A model for local community support

TerraCom’s Hughenden and Clyde Park projects have the potential to deliver significant benefits to communities in the North Galilee region. TerraCom has been building local connections through its donations and sponsorships, and is committed to a positive program of engagement in every community where it operates.

TerraCom is getting to know local people through direct support of some great local events. Since 2011, in Queensland, the company has sponsored many events such as the Hughenden Campdraft, Hughenden Country Music Festival, Porcupine Gorge Challenge, 10 Days in the Towers Festival, Pentland and Homestead Primary Schools, Charters Towers Eisteddfod, Towers Players local theatre group and Charters Towers NYE celebrations as well as numerous other minor community events.

In Mongolia, the company is committed to community support through contributions to the Khovor Khummus Foundation, established voluntarily to support victims and their families as result of an off-site traffic accident. We’re proud to be a sponsor of the Community Development Fund (CDF), established under tripartite Community Development Agreement (CDA) with the Noyon soum and Umnugobi aimag government administrations. We also support local Mongolian residents in relation to land use and the impact of mining and transportation, and provide ad hoc donations in support of local government and community activities within Umnugobi aimag.

In Townsville, where TerraCom worked closely with the Port of Townsville to investigate options for shipping its product to export markets, the company has previously invested strongly in local organisations, schools and events.

Back in 2011, TerraCom donated $100,000 toward flood recovery efforts in disaster affected communities across Queensland. The company operates in many of the communities hit hard by the record floods, the scale and impact of which captured international attention.
