    • Kangala Colliery (thermal coal)

      The greater project consists of two properties — Wolvenfontein (location of Kangala) and Middelbult located near several coal-fired power stations and benefits from excellent road, rail and power infrastructure

    • New Clydesdale Colliery (thermal coal)

      Inclusive of 54.80Mt Reserve

      New Clydesdale Colliery is located in the Kriel district, approximately 149km from Johannesburg and consists of the Roodekop and Diepspruit Projects.

    • North Block Complex (thermal coal)

      Inclusive of 55.40Mt Reserve

      In line with the Group’s value-accretive acquisition strategy, in March 2018 Universal acquired North Block Complex from Exxaro, effective 1 November 2018.

    • Ubuntu Colliery (thermal coal)

      Inclusive of 9.1Mt Reserve

      Ubuntu is located in the Delmas district, 25km south of Kangala and therefore, has the option to share processing infrastructure.

    • Eloff Project (thermal coal)

      Located adjacent to the Kangala pit, the Eloff Project provides the Group with strategic near-term flexibility and upside as it will enable the potential of low-cost expansion of the life of mine at Kangala, as well as the potential for additional standalone extensions within the broader project area.

    • Arnot South (thermal coal)

      Arnot South comprises a prospecting right over 15 000ha located some 50km north-east of New Clydesdale Colliery.

  • Berenice/Cygnus (soft coking and thermal coal)

    The Berenice/Cygnus coking coal project is located in the Soutpansberg Coalfield 90km southwest of Musina, outside environmentally sensitive areas such as the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site and proposed environmental buffer zones
