TerraCom understands the benefit of working cooperatively with local communities to progress its projects in Australia and Mongolia (Click here for updates on community engagement in Mongolia).

Supporting community projects, events, people, and organisations is just one way TerraCom is building that local partnership.

A model for local community support

TerraCom is making strong progress in establishing its operations at its key projects in the North Galilee Basin of Queensland, near the townships of Hughenden and Pentland.

TerraCom’s Hughenden and Clyde Park projects have the potential to deliver significant benefits to communities in the North Galilee region. TerraCom has been building local connections through its donations and sponsorships, and is committed to a positive program of engagement in every community where it operates.

TerraCom is getting to know local people through direct support of some great local events. Since 2011, the company has sponsored many events such as the Hughenden Campdraft, Hughenden Country Music Festival, Porcupine Gorge Challenge, 10 Days in the Towers Festival, Pentland and Homestead Primary Schools, Charters Towers Eisteddfod, Towers Players local theatre group and Charters Towers NYE celebrations as well as numerous other minor community events. Check here for Queensland community support updates.

In Townsville, where TerraCom worked closely with the Port of Townsville to investigate options for shipping its product to export markets, the company has invested strongly in local organisations, schools and events.

Back in 2011, TerraComdonated $100,000 toward flood recovery efforts in disaster affected communities across Queensland. The company operates in many of the communities hit hard by the record floods, the scale and impact of which captured international attention.

TerraCom worked with locally based recovery programs providing much need assistance in regional and rural communities such as Ipswich, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Emerald.
TerraCom is committed to partnerships with peak business and industry bodies and is also a member of key local organisations such as the Townsville, Charters Towers and Hughenden Chambers’ of Commerce, Townsville Enterprise, and the Mount Isa to Townsville Economic Zone (MITEZ), the peak regional development organisation for the area.
